You Weren’t Meant to Do This Alone: Why Supportive Connections Matter in Perimenopause

You Weren’t Meant to Do This Alone: Why Supportive Connections Matter in Perimenopause

There are seasons of life where connection feels easy.
And then there are seasons where it doesn’t.
Lately, you might find yourself:
Canceling plans.
Avoiding social situations.
Feeling irritated more easily.
Or simply not having the energy to engage the way you used to.
And quietly, without even realizing it…
👉 you start to pull away
It’s subtle at first.
But over time, that distance can turn into disconnection.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
And more importantly…
There’s nothing “wrong” with you.

🌸 Why Connection Can Feel Harder Right Now

During perimenopause, your body and mind are navigating a lot:
• hormone fluctuations
• changes in mood and energy
• increased sensitivity to stress
• shifting priorities and perspectives
Things that once felt easy may now feel:
• overwhelming
• draining
• or simply not aligned anymore
Even your tolerance levels can change.
And that can impact how you experience relationships.

🌿 When Relationships Start to Shift

You may start to notice:
• certain conversations feel exhausting
• environments feel overstimulating
• some relationships feel less supportive than they once did
And that can be confusing.
Because these are often the same people and spaces you’ve always known.
But here’s the truth:
👉 As you change, your needs change too
And that includes what you need from your connections.

💛 The Temptation to Pull Away

When things feel off, it’s natural to want to retreat.
To keep things simple.
To protect your energy.
To just be alone.
And sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.
But when isolation becomes the default…
👉 it can start to work against you

🌙 Why Connection Matters More Than Ever

Even though it might feel easier to pull away…
This is actually a time when connection becomes even more important.
Supportive relationships can:
✨ help regulate your nervous system
✨ help stabilize your cortisol levels
✨ lower stress levels
✨ improve mood and emotional well-being
✨ create a sense of safety and belonging
And beyond the mental and emotional benefits…
Connection can even support your physical health by:
✨ reducing the risk of chronic diseases and serious illnesses
✨ lowering inflammation
✨ improving immune function
✨ improving perimenopause symptoms

🌿 The Power of Supportive Community

There’s something uniquely powerful about being around people who get it.
Who understand what you’re going through.
Who can relate without explanation.
Who make you feel seen instead of judged.
That’s the kind of connection that doesn’t drain you…
👉 it supports you
And this is where community becomes so important.
Because you don’t have to navigate this season alone.

✨ Not All Connection Is Supportive

Here’s something important to consider:
👉 Not all connection is created equal
Some environments or relationships may no longer feel supportive.
Things like:
• late nights that leave you exhausted
• constant negativity or complaining
• relationships that feel one-sided
• social settings that drain your energy
These aren’t “bad”…
But they may not be what your body needs right now.

🌿 The Energy You Surround Yourself With Matters

We often mirror the energy around us.
So it’s worth asking:
👉 What kind of energy feels supportive to me right now?
Calm?
Encouraging?
Uplifting?
Understanding?
Your environment includes the people you spend time with.
And that environment matters.

💛 An Opportunity to Reevaluate

Instead of seeing this as something you’re “losing”…
What if you saw it as an opportunity?
👉 to reassess
👉 to realign
👉 to create connections that better support who you are now and what you need
This is growth.
Even if it feels uncomfortable at times.

📝 A Gentle Self-Check

Take a moment to reflect:
• Do I feel supported in my current relationships?
• Who leaves me feeling energized vs. drained?
• Do I have space to be honest about how I’m feeling?
• Do I have connections with similar values?
• Am I making time for meaningful connection?
• Are there people that I can talk to that understand me?
• What kind of support do I need right now?
No judgment.
Just awareness.

✨ Small Ways to Stay Connected

If connection has been feeling difficult, start small:
• reach out to someone you trust
• schedule a simple, low-pressure get-together
• spend time with people who feel safe and supportive
• seek out communities where you feel understood
Connection doesn’t have to be big or complicated.
It just has to be real.

🌸 You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

Let this be your reminder:
💛 You are not meant to navigate this season alone
💛 Support is not a luxury — it’s a need
💛 The right connections can make a meaningful difference

Meet Coach Jaime

Let me introduce myself!
My name is Jaime. I am a Christian wife and mom to 2 humans and 2 furry children. After being a middle school teacher for 17 years, I switched directions to go into the field of health and wellness. I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, I also have certifications in aromatherapy and menopause coaching. Beyond my passion for health and wellness, you can catch me walking, baking, scrapbooking or sewing.

In the midst of my teaching career, I started to experience a lot of health concerns. My hormones were tanking and I felt terrible. I jumped from doctor to doctor with each one prescribing a new medication that didn't seem to help. I had a full hysterectomy at the age of 39 which threw me into menopause. With little help or guidance from doctors, I started doing my own research which lead to me becoming a health coach. (I guess "rabbit holes" can have benefits!!) I am proud to say that I am stronger and healthier than I have ever been!
My health journey hasn't been easy, but it has been a learning experience that I am grateful for!

I don't want women to have to go through their perimenopause/menopause journey alone and confused, like I did. I don't want women to feel like they have no options. I don't want women to learn the hard way the things that really make a difference for their health. I want women to have the knowledge, support, tools and confidence to take control of their health.

If you are in perimenopause or post menopausal, I want to support, encourage, and empower you during this time. This is not a time for suffering, rather it is a time for powerful change!!
